Apple is expected to introduce an all-new iPhone “Slim” model in its 2025 iPhone 17 lineup, potentially discontinuing the current iPhone “Plus” device. According to multiple sources, the iPhone 17 “Slim” will feature a thinner aluminum body and a narrower Dynamic Island, possibly due to a smaller metalens for the Face ID system. Unlike previous designs, this device’s cameras might be moved to the top-center position of the device and will include a more scratch-resistant ultra-hard anti-reflective display layer.

In addition to its major design changes, the iPhone 17 “Slim” is set to undergo significant performance and feature upgrades. The device is expected to have 8GB of RAM and Apple’s latest A19 chip, utilizing an optimized 3nm process. The iPhone 17 lineup will also introduce ProMotion technology to non-Pro models for the first time, offering refresh rates up to 120Hz. Furthermore, it will boast a 24-megapixel front-facing camera with a six-element lens for enhanced selfie quality. While the display size might be slightly smaller than the iPhone 15 Plus, it will offer a higher refresh rate and improved anti-reflective properties.

With comprehensive hardware upgrades and innovative design, the iPhone 17 “Slim” is anticipated to be priced higher than the current Pro Max model, which starts at $1,199. This suggests that it will become the new high-end model in Apple’s lineup, possibly named the “iPhone Ultra.” Whatever the eventual name, the release of this device will mark another significant leap forward in Apple’s phone design and technology.
